Little Hall ZRC SAZU, Novi trg 3
In the year 2009, the Institute of Musicology was entrusted with a parlour grand piano, manufactured by Josef and Adolf Gössl, from the late 19th century. The Viennese action piano was donated to the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts by the family of dr. Jola Škulj in 2008 and then restored by Zlatko Pavlinić and his colleagues from Zagreb. On 29 June 2009, the Institute of Musicology organised an event which included a presentation of the restoration procedure and a small concert. Ana Samobor, a tallented pupil from the Vič-Rudnik music school, performed Franz Schubert's Impromptu in A-flat Major and the first movement of Sonata in E Major by Ludwig van Beethoven. On this occasion, the director of Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts gave special thanks to the family of dr. Jola Škulj for their donation.
The Institute of Musicology also organised several concerts which presented the public with an exceptional opportunity to experience the historical sound of this late 19th century Viennese action piano.
