Did you know that the Violin Concerto in D Major, Op.77 by Johannes Brahms (1833–1897), composed in 1877, was first performed in Ljubljana only in 1902? The work was premiered on the stage of the Philharmonic Society of Ljubljana with Joachim’s cadenza by the Viennese violinist Karl Prill (Carl Prill; 1864–1931). Prill was a former student of Brahms’ friend Joseph Joachim (1831–1907) and a professor at the Vienna Conservatory, concertmaster of the Vienna Court Opera Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic.
