Description

On 15 and 16 October 2015 the Institute of Musicology together with the Fondazione Levi (Venice) and its study group Tra.D.I.Mus (Tracking the Dissemination of Italian Music in Europe, 16th-17th century) organises an international scholarly conference titled The Parnassus Musicus Ferdinandaeus (1615). The conference will be carried out under the patronage of the HERA MusMig (Music Migrations in the Early Modern Age: the Meeting of the European East, West and South) project. Central to the conference’s interest is music life at the Archducal court of in Graz around the year 1615, when a collection of small-scale concertato motets was printed in Venice and dedicated to the Inner-Austrian ruler Ferdinand, the Ferdinand's music Parnassus. The conference papers will deal also with a phaenomenon of migrations of court musician and music repertoire within the web of European centres politically and dynastically connected to Ferdinand's family. Evaluated will be also the title collection and its music.
