Monika Marušič graduated at the University of Ljubljana, Department of Musicology in 2022. Since 2023 she has been a junior researcher at the Institute of Musicology at the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Her doctoral research focuses on Opera in Gorizia (Italy) in the 19th century and its connections to other major European cultural centers.

She works for the Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana and regularly publishes articles, program notes, and interviews.
