What attracted the citizens of Koper to St Anne’s Church in the 18th century?

If your summer travels took you to Koper, you probably drove or walked past the small church of St Anne, hidden behind the walls at the entrance to the city. According to Paolo Naldini, who was the Bishop of Koper between 1686 and 1713, crowds of people came to this the church to listen to the characteristic singing of the local Franciscans, the so-called cantus fractus, often accompanied and enriched by organ accompaniment. More about the traces of this rich, extremely widespread and popular (although today almost unknown) musical repertoire in Koper can be read in the article: https://doi.org/10.3986/dmd20.1-2.07
